Late Summer & Early Fall Lawn Pests: Your lawn may be troubled by two common insect pests. Sod webworms live in the soil and damage grass roots. Lawn chinch bugs attack from above. Lawns that are shaded or that have received too much water are prone to fungi and white powdery mildew. Finally, if not controlled, weeds can easily proliferate. Spray material: For insects use diazion. Use an appropriate fungicide to help stop the spread of lawn diseases; and use a herbicide appropriate for the types of weeds that appear. Sprayer to use: Use a Hudson compression sprayer. This kind of applicator provides a precise, on-target, non-drift spray good for soil and lawn pests. Adjust the sprayer for a coarse drenching spray, one that penetrates the ground. Then water the lawn thoroughly. See Catalog Link.
